4 Of The Best Yoast SEO Features

Yoast SEO is an incredibly popular search-optimization plug-in for WordPress. This unique plug-in expands upon the standard SEO features that WordPress offers. In essence Yoast SEO is a brilliant tool if you’re looking to optimise your website and improve your chances of ranking better on Google and other well-known search engines. Because it offers clear instructions and helpful tips – it’s a really handy tool for SEO novices. Which is probably why it has been downloaded over 200 million times.

The Readability Analysis

One of the most popular features is the readability analysis. This helps you write content that can be easily read by everyone. Creating this type of content is a lot harder than you might think. When reading pages online we often scan the page and look for the specific information that we require. Therefore it’s important that a post is clear and concise, in other words – straight to the point. In this day and age we want information and we want it quickly. You wouldn’t search online for a cheesecake recipe and spend five hours reading an article on the history of cheesecake.

Yoast SEO is based in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands they have a legal requirement that all copy on government websites falls under a specific category – B2: Upper intermediate level. As a result this ensures that everyone regardless of the education they have received can read and understand the information provided. Yoast SEO uses this strategy in their Readability Analysis.

The SEO Analysis

The SEO Analysis feature helps optimise your content for search engines. It does this by evaluating the use of the specific keyphrases that you’re trying to rank for. It checks a plethora of different elements on your website – all of which attribute to your SEO efforts. Here is a list of some of the things that Yoast SEO will analyse;

  • Keyphrase distribution
  • Subheadings
  • Image alt attributes
  • SEO title width
  • Outbound links
  • Internal links
  • Keyphrase length
  • Keyphrase density
  • Meta description length
  • Keyphrase in meta description
  • Overuse of keyphrases
  • Text length
  • Keyphrases in your URL

The Snippet Preview

Snippet preview is one of my favourite aspects of Yoast SEO. This awesome feature shows you how your page is displayed by Yoast on various search engines. Furthermore you can edit your meta description and see in real-time how it will be viewed by your audience. As a result of writing a great meta description you increase the odds of your page ranking in the results pages.

The Internal Linking Tool

Yoast SEO boasts an impressive internal linking tool designed to help you implement your internal linking strategy. When you optimise a blog it is really important that you have an internal linking strategy. This is because you help search engines understand the association between the content on your site and ultimately the relevance. Relevance is super important when it comes to content and SEO – because pages are typically ranked based on their relevance to the search terms. In addition, this tool provides a link counter and this calculates both the internal links in a post and the internal links directing to a post. Subsequently this helps you to assess which posts require more links.

These are just a handful of the great features Yoast SEO has to offer. In conclusion, this plug-in allows you to really improve organic traffic, search engine rankings and most importantly visitor engagement. All of which are crucial elements for a successful recruitment website.
